Nokia 5310 Unlocked Cell Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot–U.S. Version with Warranty (Blue) With a sleek aluminium finish, the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone blends an array of music playback features with tri-band GSM connectivity and a 2-megapixel camera. Nokia’s 5310 XpressMusic phone offers dedicated playback keys and a wide range of format compatibility (including secure WMA).

This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (850 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.

Phone Features
Measuring just 0.39 inches thin and weighing 2.5 ounces, the svelte candybar-style 5310 has a standard keypad, five-way navigator, send/end keys, and two soft keys, as well as music playback buttons (play/pause, reverse, forward) set on the left side of the LCD. The 2-inch screen has a 240 x 320-pixel resolution and support for 16.7 million colors. The phone also includes a mini-USB connection and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom. It has an internal 30 MB memory (which can be expanded up to 4 GB using optional MicroSD memory cards), and the phone book can store up to 2000 contacts (each with three numbers and one text field).

You’ll be able to play virtually any file, thanks to compatibility with MP3, MP4, AAC, eAAc+, and WMA as well as secure WMA songs purchased from Internet music stores. This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR (enhanced data rate), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking–surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.

Other music-related features include up to 20 hours of playback time, album art display and audio visualizations, and enhanced audio controls (5-band graphical equalizer, stereo widening, loudness, and balance). You’ll also be able to listen to your favorite radio station with the integrated FM tuner.

The integrated Bluetooth technology (version 2.0) allows handsfree communication with a compatible headset as well as the ability to exchange files with another Bluetooth compatible device. And, with the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. Additionally, you can connect to your PC using infrared or USB.

The 5310 offers a full range of email, text, and multimedia messaging options. It includes support for IMAP4, POP3, and SMTP email, plus support for attachments such as DOC, PDF, XLS, JPEG, 3GP, and MP3. In addition to SMS text and MMS multimedia messaging, this phone incorporates Nokia Xpress audio messaging, which allows you to personalize messages in a spontaneous and creative way. By using a specially designed menu, an audio message can be recorded and sent with only a few clicks of a button. Xpress audio messages can be sent to all MMS-enabled GSM handsets, and can also be shared with multiple recipients.

Customer Review: missed by that much!!!
This is a great Phone I love mine, but I get so frustrated that Nokia didn’t finish their work.

Since the iPhone I have started to expect more from a phone then basic functionality. I don’t want a phone, I want an extension to my computer. If life happens and I will miss a meeting I want the numbers and contact information so that I can reschedule my life on the fly. Apple get this. Nokia sells tons and tons of phones, yet they seem to be too busy to do one phone to completion. I have contemplated moving to the iPhone like my wife but the size and capabilities of this phone keep me from making the leap.

What I like about this phone:

1) Size: Nothing beats the size. You don’t even know you have a phone on you.
2) Bluetooth: This phone support file transfer and stereo headsets. Two things the iPhone can’t do.
3) Cut and Paste: Basic functionality that I have come to expect that is missing on the iPhone. This phone support cut and paste
4) Sound: This things sounds great with apple ear buds! And it has decent sound without a headset (remember it is like 7mm thin)
5) battery: At the end of the day my battery is still full. Last month I talked on the phone all day. Took and over night train to shanghai. I listened to music on the train and then talked the next day on the phone. Amazing!
6) AAC support: This phone can play unencrypted AAC files from iTunes.

What I don’t like…

1) Wont sync with Mac. Worse yet People on the net say creating a sync profile is easy! So why doesn’t Nokia do it!!!
1.a) won’t sync with iCal (very important)
1.b) Won’t sync with Address Book (very important)
1.c) Won’t sync with iTunes (less important)

Nokia, Apple is eating your lunch. Finish the job. You have a very good product finish it out. Continue to release software for the product. The rules are changing.

Customer Review: Nokia did it again….
This phone was a gift so my review is second-handed and not based on any long use but rather on the feedback i received.

Pros:
1. VERY thin and lightweight
2. alot of features
3. Good sound quality and volume
4. Stylish with very good graphic interface and software
5. Bluetooth worked seemlessly
6. Screen quality is amazing
7. 2GB expansion card
8. Very nice music player and radio
9. Flight Mode – so you don’t have to turn off during a flight but rather just stop transmitting.
10. For all the features that is packed into this tiny phone i must say the price was right.

Cons:
1. Camera is too slow. Hard to take a picture that is not blurred. A lot of light needed and no flash.
2. The screen flashes for about 30 seconds after a call or message has ended. Not sure if we changed a setting but we can’t seem to get it to stop.

Really good phone but i had to take away a star for what i think is a crappy camera. That is very minor because the camera would be under-used anyway.
